Born in an epoch with information explosion happening in every corner of our daily life, we sometimes find ourselves overwhelmed by the surrounded news, statistics or quotes about the current events. While some claim it as an information chaos or even privacy disaster, I still regard the phenomenon as overall positive. Whether we like it or not, the current events we gather from various news agents do contribute to our personal development.
Although events happening around the world would not directly take place on ourselves, they could rewire our cognition of the world even if we are not conscious about it. And it is especially evident during our decision making process. How we decide on important issues eventually count on how much background information we gather, not on how much deliberation we make. If we know that Iraq was on war, we probably dare not risk our life traveling there. However, if this part of information is missing, we are likely to be misguided by some deceitful tourist advertisement which conceal some of the truth and put our own safety at risk. And similar decisions appear on everywhere of our daily life, directly concerned with our economic status, personal safety or health issues.
Knowing more about the current events could also make us more promising in our career, because every piece of that information you gather serve to make you more appealing in the eyes of your boss and even colleagues. Bosses undoubtedly prefer the stuffs with proficient knowledges so as to improve the image of the whole company. And the command of events on an international basis consists a great amount of a person's knowledge volume. During the work gathering, discussing about the condition of the world becomes somehow a fashion for colleagues to express their standpoints as well as ambitions. Talking about current events with profound perspectives will also add score to your personal image.
Some opponents might have brought out the facts that factors mentioned above only work with jobs that require consistently making options or the ones that values the art of talk. What about some stable and relatively social-distanced jobs like craftsman or scientists? In regard to this group of people, there job characteristic needs them to be continuously creative. And in order to reach that goal, they need to be problem-based. That means it's the flaws or drawback in the current society that they need to find a solution to. And the best way to find those flaws is to look up the existing issue on the newspaper or refer to the ongoing events around the globe. In that respect, events happening around the world contribute to the creativity of the modern individuals, allowing them to capture the 'needs of enhancement' ardently.
Treat current news or events as a catalyst of the development of the society, rather than a mere distraction that wear off modern people's attention, then you will find they are beneficial to the nearly every aspect of every people in all walks of life!
