Humans have a strong interest in elephants because of some mysterious and fascinating behaviors of these large animals.However,the professor thinks that we may misunderstand them and misinterpret these behaviors.
First, elephants will choose to leave their herds when they have approaching death.As a result,so called elephant graveyards form at certain locations.However,when we factor in some practical reasons,we find that old elephants teeth almost wear down which makes them hard to chew hard food.But,vegetation growing near the water is very soft,for which they have no choices but to wander away from their herds.
Second,elephants always show their artistic ability by using their trunk to paint common objects in our lives.But,after we have an insight into elephants training process,it is undeniable fact that they are trained to do so not because of their instinct.By stroking their sensitive ears in a certain way,they gradually learn to paint some lines and remember these patterns.Then,repetition are taken at the last step.
Third,since antiquity some scientists have firmly believed that elephants are more afraid of mice than some dangerous animals.This hypothesis have been firmed by a recent research.But,all animals have natural instinct resulting them to fear unfamiliar animals.In contrast,elephants living in zoos are not afraid of mice because they know mice wont pose any threat to them.So,this hypothesis is still under discussion.
